Random Thoughts looks at the world through a secular lens, discussing religion, politics, science and various additional subjects in which the author has interest. The author is Pete Soderman, currently of Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. We moved here in 2010, partially to escape the overwhelming religiosity we encountered in Wilmington, NC, where we lived for 18 years. Living in the northeast all of my life, I always thought evolution and the age of the earth were settled science. Not so saith voices of fundamentalist Christianity.
It was after I moved to Wilmington that I discovered that god wrote a science book! Whodathunkit? I’m not a scientist, and make no claims to be. What I am is a lifelong fan of science who has done a tremendous amount of research into the subjects in which I have interest, and these include but are not limited to: Religious history, Christian apology, United States history, philosophy, the physical sciences and atheist thought.
The picture at the top of the page is the lovely bay in the city of Chapala, about three miles from the village of Ajijic, where we make our home.
So, these are the areas I plan to explore in this blog. I claim no expert status in any of these areas, and therefore welcome any comments or suggestions you may have. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy Random Thoughts.
